This year, the event is expected to be bigger than ever after it enduring being canceled and postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Metro Cruise event has been attracting attendees from all over Michigan since 2005 and has since been a spot for car folk to talk and debate over their respected rides. The event has drawn thousands in the past. This year, a couple of new opportunities are available for car enthusiasts in attendance.
A shuttle will be available from the high school and library to Roger's Plaza every 15 minutes from 2 p.m. The West Michigan SAAB Club and Great Lakes Region Volvo Club of America car clubs will be set up at the Cascade Retail Center Pit Stop location with food, entertainment and more. The Miata Owners of West Michigan, Camaros of Michigan and Low Riders car clubs will be set up at the Betten Baker Grandville Pit Stop location with food, entertainment and more. New additions for this year include more kids’ activities, shade tents, additional collector car spaces and expanded offerings at the Woodland Mall site.
Main Event Sites at the Metro Cruise Grand Rapids in West Michigan
This year, the cruise is looking to be bigger than ever with the addition of three "Pit Stop" locations along 28th Street. At these hot spots you can see lots of stationary cars (car show style). Open hours are 2 pm-9 pm on Friday, 11 am-9 pm on Saturday. This incredibly popular Michigan car show is located between Cascade and Grandville along 28th Street but the concentration of the vehicles are in the middle of this region. The Rapid will provide a free shuttle service for event attendees throughout the weekend.

Eventgoers can also stop by the General Motors plant on Saturday, at 2100 Burlingame Ave., to commemorate the plant on its 75th anniversary. While the main site will still be Rogers Plaza, a secondary site has been added this year. The west parking lot of the Woodland Mall will now include food vendors, collector cars, live music and kids' entertainment. With previous visitor numbers reaching 250,000, organizers are expecting higher turnout with an additional location. The main event sites are at Rogers Plaza in Wyoming and Woodland Mall in Kentwood.

The two main event locations are back again for 2023 with all sorts of food, music, events and attractions. This year, the Metro Cruise will feature two "Main Event" locations on 28th Street. The heart of the Metro Cruise is throughout the Roger's Plaza parking lot.
The 28th Street Metro Cruise is roaring into Grand Rapids, bringing so many amazing cars, horsepower, and plenty of family fun on August 25 & 26. “There are now more ways than ever to enjoy your favorite auto event. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The 16th Annual 28th Street Metro Cruise is taking place August 27th and 28th and is a great family event spanning across 13 miles. Classic car enthusiasts will be parking themselves along 28th Street this weekend. Be the first to know about new attractions, upcoming events and more. Over 250,000 attendees have enjoyed the event in recent years with an estimated 15,000 cars participating.
The official times for the event are 2 p.m. On Saturday, but it isn't unusual to see classic cars cruising down 28th Street all weekend long. There will also be 25 food trucks and concessionaires, five local bands, kids activities, the Miss Metro Cruise Finale and more. Parking is available at Roger's Plaza or at Wyoming High School parking lot, and the Kent District Library - Wyoming Branch parking lot.
